The GMA solution provides audible alerts when a moving vehicle approaches an intersection (or other geo-coded area) too rapidly. When a GMA-enabled vehicle is approaching one of these areas an alert is sounded if the vehicle is moving faster than a predetermined speed.  Using a GPS-enabled device – such as a navigation-enabled mobile phone, navigation system, or telematics system, the moving vehicle is capable of warning the driver about potentially dangerous situations that require complete driver attention.

Global Mobile Alert uses GPS and wireless technologies to compare the vehicle’s location and speed to geo-coded points of reference such as intersections, railroad crossings, and school zones.

For automotive OEMs and suppliers of GPS-enabled mobile devices, the GMA solution may help reduce the effects of driver distraction in vehicles enabled with navigation and embedded telematics equipment.

The GMA solution augments the HMI features in passenger cars through the Global Mobile Alert “workload manager.”
